I've loved this PBS documentary series since I was a kid. I still rarely miss an episode, especially when it focuses on space.
2001: A Space Odyssey
My favorite film and perhaps my favorite director (Kubrick). I *almost* even like the super-long ape scenes at the beginning. If you aren't convinced, go watch it at the Seattle Cinerama once and see if you change your mind.

Venice
One of my life goals was to make it to Venice. I was not disappointed when I made it there. What's not to love? Improbably elegant architecture in the middle of a lagoon, gracefully decaying into the sea.
